The holidays can make people crazy. Shoot, a lot of family time in general can make people crazy. But, let me remind you, you never know when today will be your last day with them. Try to grin, bear it, and don't engage even if a family member likes to push your buttons. The holidays are not really about presents, where you're going, or what you're doing; it's about being together. If you can't enjoy being with each other it certainly will make it for a long evening. Remember what I said, stress only adds to weight gain. Why dwell on what you're so irritated about - especially because you probably can't change the person that drives you nuts. Family that screams at each other and uses words to fight below the belt makes surviving the holidays almost impossible. Hating someone or being angry about something ten years ago or even a build up of many things only turns you into a bitter, angry person. Anger can poison you and make it difficult for anyone to want to be around you. Don't let the holidays turn you into a a nasty person. The faster you realize your family is what it is and it mostly likely isn't going to change; the faster you can start being happy.
Now I realize there are some serious issues in some family's and the hope of calling a truce is inconceivable. However, experience with my own has taught me that things could always be worse and I'm just grateful we love each other and I have a family to be with during the holiday's. I'm so thankful this year and I hope that you can be too.
